Jamaican Comedy

Some may say that the life of a typical Jamaican is comedy. I am not sure whether that's a good or a bad thing.... Nonetheless, we are a set of people who have mastered the art of applying humour to our daily lives. We laugh even when there is nothing to laugh about just so that everything is 'Irie' because 'JAMAICA, NO PROBLEM MON!!' There are some people who make comedy their way of life and they have helped to build and what is known as the Jamaican Comedy. It is unlike any other......
Some of Jamaica's BEST include:

ITY & FANCY CAT

GLEN 'TITUS' CAMPBELL

OLIVER SAMUELS

APACHE CHIEF & SARGE

ANDREA 'DELCITA' WRIGHT

This is just to name a few as there are MANY others who have contributed to putting Jamaica on the map of Comedy as Jamaican Comedy is now in very high demand worldwide.......

SO LET'S CONTINUE TO LAUGH OUR PAIN AWAY......

Tax PLUS!!!!

The nation is being murdered from all ends with debris from the leaders who continue to launch their wordly missiles. The new dilemma is the increase in taxes on various items (INCLUDING PATTY). How will persons deemed to be in a part of the lowest economical class without a job and more than 5 children survive?
This question becomes harder to answer as the tax continue to increase government after government after government..... smh

Red hot rookie Stylysh ha voiced on track with incarcerated deejay Vybz Kartel on rhythm produced by Calvin 'Moonie' Haye. ( The edited version of the song is called Are You Ready to love Me Right Now?).

Sheba And Former Gaza Members React To The Break Up Of The Portmore Empire

With news forthcoming that the 'World Boss' has disbanded the Portmore Empire, artiste Sheba says she is in shock since she was not informed about the decision.

"I was not personally informed about this. Mi just wake up and see a broadcast message about it and a wonder if a true, but since THE STAR a call me, it look like a true, den," Sheba said.
Sheba went on to say that she had not heard Kartel's side of the story, so she was not in a position to speak about the group being disbanded.
"Him nuh send no message wid him lawyer fi say nutten bout it, but a still music, me say. I want to thank him for a great run - it's been three years. To be honest, this news kinda shock me - is a sudden surprise. it's not something that was discussed with me," she said.
Sheba, whose given name is Tasheba Campbell, says she joined the Portmore Empire in 2009.
"Mi go up a di studio one day and tell him say me can deejay and him say, "mek mi hear a song den", and mi deejay fi him, and him say him like it, and that was it," Sheba told THE STAR.
She is most famous for her collabs with Kartel, including You and Him DehLike Christmas, and Do Me Dat (A Whe Me Do You).
Former 'Gaza' artistes sound off
The STAR also spoke with a few of the original members to hear their views on the disbanding of the Portmore Empire.
"I was there from the beginning, and I got the chance to learn a lot of things while in the Portmore Empire that could help me out with my career today. From they remanded him, some of the others should have been trying to work on their craft so even if he doesn't come back very soon, they can still manage on their own. "Empire taught me to fight fi what yuh believe in and him is a man weh him like fi see yuh a do things. So as a female, yuh haffi think like a man but act like a woman," said Lisa Hyper.
Another artiste, Dosa Medicine, said, "I understand what Vybz Kartel is saying. he is away and can't really push their careers the way he could have if he was out. Vybz Kartel is a man like this ... when it becomes too much for him, he will just let it go. I figure more or less that is what is happening. But still, to be one of the original members, it's good to know that the whole world was saying gaza, something I help to build."

Statement from Busy Signal

In this a time of reflection, I would like to thank my fans who have supported me through this difficult situation and who will continue to support me. Your messages and prayers via social networks and via members of my team are what have brought light to the darkness of my cell.

I have never admitted that I was involved in any drug deal or drug arrangement. I waived my rights to an extradition trial here in Jamaica, so that I can return to the US to face a charge of absconding bail ONLY. This incident took place ten (10) years ago before I even considered becoming an artiste.
As you can understand, this is a difficult time for me, however during my time away, my fans will not be left with a void - there are several unreleased tracks that will definitely keep you "busy" until my return. I recently released my album Reggae Music Again, which debuted at number 5 on the Billboard Reggae charts. On my recent tour of Amsterdam and Paris, we shot elements for the video to the title track of the album. It features cameos from Marcia Griffiths, Queen Ifrica and Anthony B and that will be released in a couple of weeks.

For my fans overseas, my management team has been in dialogue with promoters who have all shown their support for me and my situation and for that I thank them.

For my family, you have stood by me through thick and thin and I know you will continue to do so. In my time away, I have made the necessary arrangements with my management team to have you taken care of until my return.

To my band. Hi-Voltage, you have toured the world with me and have been a tower of strength. Continue to make good music until I return, cause the mission will continue.

I know that my facebook page has been inactive for a while, but, starting this week, Shane Brown, head of Juke Boxx management team, will assume direct control of my twitter account - @busysignal_turf and my facebook page - www.facebook.com/OneBusySignal. I will be kept updated so please continue to send your love, support and prayers through these channels, as they keep me going.

To my legal team, KD Knight, Bert Samuels and Roxanne Mars, your positive words and unfailing belief and support in me and my case have made this situation a little easier to bear. Thank you very much.

Finally my friends, my fans and my family, thank you again from the depths of my heart. Please keep me in your prayers. "We not going down, cause God alone controls my destiny"

Usain Bolt gets his own Hublot Watch

The world's fastest man, Usain Bolt, now has a Swiss watch made in honour of him, which also features his image. The watch is aptly named King Power Usain Bolt.

In addition to the watch's many references to the sprinter, it features an interesting hallmark: the strap is made from exactly the same leather as the shoes he wore when he broke world records in Beijing in 2008.

Hublot, for whom he is an ambassador, has developed this special model in close consultation with Bolt to mark this monumental year in sport.

The watch is a fusion of symbols which represent everything about Bolt starting with his pose - his unique signature - stylised and immediately recognisable in an anthracite grey transfer on a black background. A 12-hour chronograph counter sits at 6 o'clock, and is decorated with a touch of green in a nod to the colours on the Jamaican flag.

Bolt, who turns 25 this year, recently opened his season in style by completing his first individual 100 metres in a quick 9.82 seconds at the National Stadium in Kingston, as he prepares to defend three titles in London this summer: the 100, 200 and 4x100 metres.

Amelia 'Milk' Sewell - Three Cheese Lasagna

EFFERVESCENT, down-to-earth, zany and most definitely 'The Girl Boss' are just some of the words Amelia 'Milk' Sewell used to describe herself.
She believes in living her life the way she wants to be treated. Her favourite channel on television, the Food Network, explains Amelia's love for cooking as she enjoys playing with different seasonings to create new flavours as a way to add a twist to traditional dishes.
Amelia's Three Cheese Lasagna with Italian Sausage and Plantains is definitely something to make for dinner on a special occasion. And what better time than Mother's Day.

TEENage: What does Mother's Day mean to you?

Amelia: Every day is a Mother's Day for me. I really cherish the relationship that I have with my grandmother, who raised me and I cherish the relationship that I have with my own mother. Mothers should be celebrated every day not just one day. Mothers are the backbone of our society and the world.

Message to her grandmother, Gladys Baracatt:
Thank you for the hard work you have done throughout these years. I know that I have given you a lot of trouble but I turned out GREAT and it's all because of you. I LOVE YOU.

* When finishing the top of the lasagna, make sure that all the pasta is covered with cheese as any exposed are will become dry, crisp and burnt.

* Using turkey sausage in this dish alters the flavour profile by adding both a sweet and a smokey flavour to the end product.

Kartel disbands Portmore Empire

Incarcerated deejay Vybz Kartel has officially disbanded the Portmore Empire. A statement was released on one876entertainment.com by Adidjahiem Records and includes the following statement from Adidja 'Vybz Kartel' Palmer:
Dancehall fans worldwide, it with great regret that I, Adidja Palmer have decided to disband the Portmore Empire. These artistes have been under the Adidjahiem leadership for years, where they have honed their craft and made their mark, and as such, are well on their way to becoming major forces in Dancehall. They have reached a level where they are more capable to take on their careers by themselves, and it would be unfair to them, based on the limited resources of Adidjahiem Records, and current legal woes of the Adidjahiem C.E.O. and team members.

I wish them the best and I am confident that they will live up to my expectations. In the future, Adidjahiem will continue to bring out new acts and groom them for stardom.

Thank You

KISSING

Kissing plays a crucial role in starting, building and maintaining a meaningful relationship. Believe it or not……

A woman can know a whole list of things about a man, other than if he has bad breath or not, just by kissing him. She can know his sensualities, the way he makes love, how considerate he is about her feelings (does he want her to have fun as much as he wants to), can he take control, just to name a few….

Here are a few ways to effectively kiss a woman to ensure she is captivated:
1) Don't kiss as a precursor (something that comes before) to sex. Give that passionate "I want you right here and now" kiss and walk away leaving her breathless.

2) Kiss her with her back and your hands braced against the wall. Only the lips touching.

3) A soft moan while kissing or whispering something sexy such as, "I want you", just as you are about to kiss her send chills along her spine.

4) Kiss her, pull back, stare into her eyes then gently run your tongue along her lips or nibble on her lower lip before going in for another kiss.

5) Come from behind with hands on her hips or around her waist. Kiss her slowly from neck to ear then turn her around to face you and intensify the kiss.

6)  Hold or stroke the side(s) of her face while kissing her. This simple action will drive her crazy.

7) She will feel how passionate you are about her when you stroke her hair while kissing softly, then pull her closer by the nape (back) of the neck and kiss her deeper.

Once a woman enjoys kissing you it’s a BIG step towards a sexual relationship, provided that you are GENUINE.

Reasons Women Stay with Cheaters!

We see it again and again, a man strays, lies, and cheats on his wife or girlfriend and she decides to give him another chance at fidelity. Yet, in relationships where the woman cheats, the relationship often ends in divorce. Why the difference?

CHILD ABUSE

Impacts of Child Abuse

Child Abuse is the physical, sexual or emotional mistreatment or neglect of a child or children. This is a burning and prolonging issue not only in Jamaica but worldwide and it needs to be dealt with ASAP. No child possesses the mental mechanism to deal with such an experience and therefore will have to deal with the consequences of living with the pain.

SEXUAL ABUSE
When children are molested they learn that adults cannot be depended on for care and protection meaning that there is a lack of support and protection. This leads to grief, depression, extreme dependency, inability to judge trustworthiness in others, mistrust, anger and hostility. Also the children’s bodies react with actions of shame and guilt.

PHYSICAL ABUSE
A single incident of physical abuse can result in severe trauma but the more the physical abuse occurs the greater the impact on the child. The younger the child was of the physical abuse, the greater the imprint the greater the impact. When the child has a very close relationship with the abuser, the feeling of betrayal are much greater because the very person who is supposed to protecting is instead inflicting pain.

EMOTIONAL ABUSE
The effects are directly connected to the relationship between the victim and abuser so the closer the relationship, the more devastating the effects on the child. As the intensity, frequency and duration of abuse increases, so does the effect on the psychological make-up of the child.

Despite the type of abuse, behaviour and mentalilty will change and this can have an influence on the future of the individual. Abuse can affect the individual’s relationship and interaction with others.

Accepting the problem and trying to live with it will be hard but that is the only way to move on and live a happy and normal life.

INSECURITY = NO RELATIONSHIP

A friend introduced me to her newly found boyfriend some months ago as the love of her life and her heartbeat etc… As time passed she complained to me about her feelings for him and she wasn’t sure if he was the one. After that, she would be all in love again and finding it hard to go through a day without seeing him. She asked me what I thought and I told her that she was CONFUSED.

Now the latest is she sending me a BBM to ask me when last have I spoken to her boyfriend which honestly, it has been awhile when all 3 of us met up somewhere. Her next question was if I knew where he was. “How would I know where YOUR man is?” I asked her. Her response which got me thinking was, ‘it seems like you 2 talk when am not around so I thought you would be the next best person to ask’

Now seriously?? Is she implying that I am with her man? This coming from a girl who searches her man’s phone when he is sleeping, listen all his phone conversations and made it known very clearly that she hates his female friends, unless they are also her friends. This girl is downright INSECURE!!!

Listen ladies, insecurity is not attractive, not cute and definitely not protective. Being insecure is annoying and will lead to the failure of your relationship. Your man needs space, it’s called his PERSONAL SPACE. He should not have to ask for it. If he does, it’s because he is starting to feel crowded.

Men need to be left alone at times because they have their moods too….just like women. They may not be experiencing menstruation but they get moody at times. TOO MUCH OF ONE THING ISN’T GOOD!!!

Another point, ladies if you think another woman is with your man you need to approach and question your man FIRST!!

Solution to this unnecessary problem:
ADMIT YOUR FLAW AND BE A BETTER GIRLFRIEND!! IT HELPS TO ACCEPT THAT YOU ARE INSECURE!!!

UTECH FINAL FETE REVIEW

Rating 1 out of 5

On Friday, May 4, at almost midnight the gathering of patrons outside the Faculty of Engineering's Parking Lot was at least twice the size of that inside the venue. The DJ, however, attempted to entertain the scantily distributed attendees who stood aimlessly waiting for the party to kick off in full gear.

The highly advertised and anticipated UTech – Final Fete had the potential of being the talk of the town if it was only about the ambiance which included the spacing and the available refreshments.  There were a few flaws, though, which caused the party quality to not be as high as was expected and the blame rests with the more than one group of persons.

The established law pertaining to parties appears to be strongly enforced and as such the question is asked as to why patrons still decide to reach the party at 1 and 2 in the morning when they know that it will be locked off by 2:30 which was the case at the Final Fete when members of the security forces came at a few minutes after 2:30 am to end the party, leaving patrons in a disappointing and low mood. They reluctantly strolled out of the venue arguing that they only got half an hour of their money, that they wanted a refund , that it was the worst  party ever, etc …… This is a fault and very bad habit of Jamaican party goers.

The promoters of UTech Final Fete and other upcoming parties need to bear in mind the type of DJs they have to play. As DJs follow one after the other, it is unwise to be starting over the party. So each time a new DJ takes over the warm up songs start to play again resulting in the energy being dropped instead of being maintained.

Chromatography

PAPER CHROMATOGRAPHY

Chromatography is used to separate mixtures of substances into their components. All forms of chromatography work on the same principle.

They all have a stationary phase (a solid, or a liquid supported on a solid) and a mobile phase (a liquid or a gas). The mobile phase flows through the stationary phase and carries the components of the mixture with it.

In paper chromatography, the stationary phase is a very uniform absorbent paper while the mobile phase is a suitable liquid solvent or mixture of solvents.

Beenie Man apologises to Gays!!

A repentant Beenie Man has issued an emotional apology to the international gay community. Beenie Man is booked to perform on the Rototam Sunsplash in Spain in August and seemed to apologise in an effort to stem any protests from the gay community which may prevent him from performing.

The entertainer has posted a video message in which he expressed his respect for persons of all races, creeds and sexual preferences.

"I respect each and every human being, regardless of which race or creed, regardless of which religious belief and regardless of which sexual preference you have including gay and lesbian people," he said.

According to the artiste he said he penned his anti-gay songs when he was much younger and immature and begged for forgiveness.

"Do not fight against me for some songs that I sing 20 years ago. There is no one in this world is the same person as how they was 20 years ago. I know I am not. I was a kid and I come from Waterhouse in one community. I never know what the world is like and the world is all about. Now I know that people live in the world that live their life differently from my life, I still have to respect and love human beings. So please I am begging you," he said.

Camar - {Chili Chicken and Potato Salad }

Who is Camar? Camar is a recording artiste, producer and songwriter. He loves to have fun, loves music, loves life, loves people, loves to interact and most of all, loves his mother. Working hard in the studios on his latest singles such as ‘Party Hard’ with Beenie Man, Camar found time to pay tribute to his mother through his cooking skills.

He decided to do a healthy Chili Chicken and Potato Salad while considering his mother’s eating habits. It is quite a tasty and simple dish to make with a delicious flavour. The moisture of the chicken breast complemented the soft potatoes all covered in the specially made and spiced dressing. This dish can serve as a suitable dinner for everyone as well as it can be served as a side order.

What does Mother’s Day mean to Camar?
Camar: Mother’s Day means everything to me. It’s all about the woman who gave me life, who taught me how to be a man and to respect women. Mommy, mi love yuh. Big man ting! Mi a work hard same way because mi want yuh fi have di bes’. Yuh son a work hard fi ‘im ting so ‘im can come out deh an mek yuh have di fina’ tings in life. Kartel and Corey Todd re-unite

Popular Businessman Corey Todd and Vybz Kartel have reunited!

Despite the deejay present legal situation the two were able to squash their differences through letters and other means of communication such as the lawyers and even their mutual accountant. All parties came to the realization that a good friendship and business was lost and it was in both parties best interest to rekindle dancehall dominance.

"We started communicating shortly after his incarceration; it was our intention not to make this public knowledge until his release however we can no longer patiently wait for that day. I wish be a voice that will help bring forth his freedom because I can attest his only guilt is association", Said Mr. Todd.

As to the demise of their relationship which happened approximately a year ago Todd stated "the associates that led to his incarceration are the same associates that cause our partnership to end at the time, but I must add that our egos also clashed. His arrest had a humbling effect on me and caused me to reflect on my own actions. I then lost interest in my present projects and made artiste involved aware that I wish discontinue, this around November".

Kartel also stated "what happened between me and Corey was just a misunderstanding. Truth be told I really had some negative elements around me, that badmind me and Corey partnership because of its success. At the time I was too caught up being world boss to realize I was destroying one of realest friendships I ever had. Being in here made me realize that we did achieve greatness together... after all if a neva fi Corey and Kartel STREET VYBZ woulda never buss in people head and Building would a never Buck pon a Saturday."

Christian Tavares-Finson, a member of Kartel's legal team, sees the mending of the broken partnership as a good turn for Kartel in his present situation.

Kartel sent a message for his Fans in his last Letter since he decided it time to go public with the reunion

"Gaza fans just get ready fi start clubbing it and rummin it. Right now this reunion bigga than the north and south after the civil war...the business mogul and the dancehall star...awoh," the letter read.
